In this activity, students will practice solving systems of equations with either substitution or elimination (or by graphing, if they choose), and then color the part of the picture with the solution with the indicated color. The problems include systems that are already in slope-intercept form and those that need to be converted to slope-intercept form (in case the student wants to solve by graphing). Students stay engaged during this activity and are engaged and stay motivated, especially when they see the picture come to life with color! This is a great activity to give your students some extra practice on essential algebra skills, and it creates beautiful classroom decor when they are done!
This activity is an excellent resource for sub plans, enrichment/reinforcement, early finishers, and extra practice with some fun. It is especially useful for end-of-year practice, spiral review, and motivated practice when students are exhausted from standardized testing or mentally “checked out” before a long break (hello summer!). Teachers and students alike enjoy motivating activities, so engage your students today with this fun color by number activity!
